The huge Reem Mall complex on Abu Dhabi’s Reem Island is reported to be close to completion.

Seven-years after it was first unveiled the $1.2 billion US retail hub is reported to be “over 95 per cent complete.”

Along with more than 450 shops and over 85 different dining options, the mall will house “one of the world’s largest snow parks” – now christened Snow Abu Dhabi.

A recently released video shows this part of the project with completed slopes and the finishing touches being applied to surfaces within the wintery wonderland.

Snow Abu Dhabi will be divided into zones, feature a cast of special characters and include 13 rides and attractions, including an enchanted tree, a snowflake garden, crystal carousel, ice labyrinth and tobogganing.

These have been co-conceived by Al Farwaniya Property Developers, Majid Al Futtaim Ventures and Thinkwell.

The temperature in the park will be kept at -2ºC and the snow will be maintained at 50cm deep year-round.

An opening date for Reem Mall has not yet been announced.
