Indoor Snow Centre within American Dream Complex Not Opening until December 5th

The indoor snow centre within the huge American Dream mall will not open until about six weeks after the $5 billion complex begins opening its doors on October 25th.

Big SNOW, North America’s first indoor real-snow park for skiing and boarding, will open on December 5th, offering year-round skiing and snowboarding, as well as a retail shop. Private lessons, coaching and children’s camps will also be available at Big SNOW.

American Dream’s Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park, the continent’s largest indoor theme park, will feature over 35 rides, rollercoasters and attractions, along with live entertainment will open on the mall’s opening day and the DreamWorks Water Park,  North America’s largest indoor water park, a month later on November 27th. It will include over 40 water slides and 15 attractions, including a lazy river, wave pool and the world’s tallest indoor body slide featuring a 43 metre drop.

Work on the American Dream mall, then named Xanadu, began in the early noughties but stalled during the economic crash, which also ended its original developer, the Mills Corporation.  It has since taken over a decade and two more developers, the latest The Triple Five group which runs North America’s too largest malls, which are also the continent’s most popular visitor attractions.

The indoor snow centre was built in 2008 and has been mothballed since then.  Over the intervening 11 years an indoor snow centre for tubing opened in Tennessee to claim the ‘first operational indoor snow centre in North America’ title.  Indoor snow centres have also opened in Egypt, Africa and brazil, South America so North America will be the sixth and final continent to get indoor snow sports (Other than Antarctica)

The mall will also feature around 350 retail stores, 100 restaurants, 30,000 car parking spaces and many other attractions. Tripler Five hope between 30 and 40 million people will visit American Dream within its first year of opening and are planning a second, similar mall in Florida.
