The Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim group which has given us Ski Dubai, Africa’s first indoor snow centre Ski Egypt and is working on a third mall with indoor snow centre in Saudi Arabia, has said a fourth complex with indoor snow facility is progressing in Oman.

Mall of Oman will have 145,000sqm of retail space with 350 outlets, Oman’s largest Vox Cinemas, a Magic Planet family entertainment centre, a 12,200sqm Carrefour hypermarket and an indoor snow park.

Details of the indoor snow element have not been published so far, the only statement about it is that it will be, “The largest in the country.”

The €650m was first announced in 2013 at which point it was hoped it would open by 2017. That was later set back to 2020 and the latest completion date given is March 2021.

Majid Al Futtaim owns and operates 25 shopping malls, 13 hotels and four mixed-use communities, with further developments underway in the region.
