A new report has found that while China’s now 50 indoor ski centres represent 7.17% of the 697 ski resorts the world’s second-most populated country currently has in operation, they attract 3.43 million skier visits, accounting for 18.41%of the total 19.83 million skier visits China recorded in the 22-23 ski season. The new largest indoor snow centre in the world is reported to be under construction and will open in China’s Shenzhen in 2025. China is already home to the three largest indoor snow centres in the world, according to The World Indoor Snow Centres Report, but the new centre will be slightly larger than the existing biggest in the planet,

Research by the online publication IndoorSnowNews.com has found that China now has 44 indoor snow centres, with six more in the final stages of construction and expected to open by the end of the year. There are currently 44 indoor snow centres operating in 15 of China’s 23 provinces, 2 of its 4 municipalities and 2 of its 5 autonomous

A temporary indoor snow facility in Thailand has become at times a victim of its own success with reports of negative online reviews being posted due to very long wait times for admissions and over-crowding of the facility once visitors make it in. However things appeared to improve after initial teething issues when the facility opened for a three-month run

A second indoor snow centre has opened in Lahore, Pakistan’s second biggest city and the 26th largest in the world. Winterland is a snow and ice themed centre where attractions include a short snow slide, ice cycling, ice skating, a tubing carousel on ice and a snow swing among other attractions.  There’s also a zipline and kids non-snow play area.

A group has been launched that aims to re-open the only indoor snow centre in the country. Snow Factor, located at XSite Braehead near Glasgow closed around six months ago in late 2022 after the company that ran it went into liquidation last year.  The rest of the mall around it remain open. Snow Factor opened on April 6th, 2006
