Snowtunnel Park Featuring ‘Endless Mountain’ To Open Next Year

A group of Australian snow‑sports innovators has lifted the curtain on Snowtunnel®, a world‑first technology designed to bring real‑snow alpine experiences into major cities year‑round.

After more than two decades of vision and three years of intensive development, the team has revealed plans for the first Snowtunnel Park, set to open in 2027, alongside a striking reveal video showcasing the system in action.

At the heart of the concept is the Snowtunnel itself — a colossal rotating cylinder standing 12.5 metres high and stretching 16 metres in length. Lined with freshly made powder snow and groomed to corduroy perfection, the tunnel creates what the founders describe as an “endless mountain,” offering more than 600 square metres of continuously rideable terrain. Variable speed control allows the surface to be tailored for beginners, families, and seasoned riders alike.

The project is led by CEO and co‑founder Scott Kessler, alongside fellow visionaries Chris Northwood and Dan Portelli. Their mission is simple: unlock the magic of snow for everyone, regardless of geography or season. Growing up in Australia, the founders experienced first‑hand the inconsistency of short, unpredictable winters. Snowtunnel, they argue, offers a solution, a reliable, accessible alpine environment that can operate in compact urban footprints at, they say, a fraction of the cost of traditional indoor ski centres.

Surrounding the Snowtunnel, each venue will feature graded downhill slopes, a snow‑play zone, and more than 3,000 square metres of total snow terrain, supported by daily fresh snow production. Partnerships with global leaders TechnoAlpin and WSP have helped refine the technology, earning enthusiastic feedback at the recent Indoor Ski & Snow Centre Summit in Bolzano, Italy.

Industry figures are already calling Snowtunnel a potential game‑changer. Kirk Edwards, former CEO of Village Entertainment, described the start‑up as “epic,” while Damon Tudor, former Urbnsurf CEO and now Snowtunnel’s Regional Partner for MENA and the US, praised its ability to democratise access to snow sports through technology.

With 95% of the world’s population having never tried skiing or snowboarding, and more than half of countries lacking natural ski fields, the founders believe the opportunity is enormous. Each Snowtunnel Park is forecast to cost AUD $20–25 million, significantly less than most surf parks or large indoor snow centres, and is designed for high throughput and year‑round operation.

As Snowtunnel Parks moves into its next investment phase, the team says this marks the shift from innovation to implementation, and the beginning of a new era for urban alpine adventure.
