India currently has the second most indoor snow centres in the world, behind China, although most of these offer ‘snow fun’ and ‘snow experiences’ rather than skiing or snowboarding slopes.

The country’s Snow World Entertainment group, which claims, “the largest indoor snow park in Asia” and currently operates four snow experience centres in India, has announced plans to double its footprint within just the next two years.

The company currently claims it has 14 operational sites at present (although 10 of these are “luxury gaming and bar concepts” rather than indoor snow centres) across India. It says it plans to open new outlets under its popular brands, including The Game Palacio, The Game Ranch, Amazonia as well as Snow World in cities including Bangalore, Hyderabad, Thane, Pitampura, Connaught Place and Golf Course Extension Road.  It’s currently unclear how many of these facilities will be indoor snow centres.

The investment in the new facilities will be INR 300 crores ($36m US) in 2023-24 and a further INR 500 crores ($60m US) in 2024-25.

“The expansion focuses on offering a variety of experiences, catering to a wide range of customer interests. From the thrill of snow adventures to the competitive spirit of The Game, and the immersive dining experience of Amazonia,” a company statement explained.
